Hi All,

I need some feedback on ppl using the subjects ECU's and their tuners and what do they personally think on how it works with their application. All help will be greatly appreciated.

motec good but pricey

autronic good but limited with sensors etc.
fav. of the 3 mentioned

haltech good awkard to tune as such time consuming added dyno costs

ems 8860 or stinger best value for money and made in sydney so back up good for you!

I installed and tuned a MoTeC M800 on my 4L... absolute dream to work with, great support from the MoTeC guys too when I ran into some issues.

Software and datalogging in these are awesome, as is the MoTeC dash logger *drool*.

yep, there are 8 injector outputs on the M800. It comes with 4 spark outputs, but can drive 8 with an addon.

You've read my comments about MoTeC already.. and having said what I said, my next aftermarket ECU would be a Megasquirt :)

Unbeatable value for money. Does all the engine management you need for a high performance vehicle for a tiny fraction of the cost.

Obviously its not for everyone due to the kit/open source nature.

megasquirts have their place but unless you have built one and then fitted and tuned it to be able to compare it to a comercially available unit that you have fitted and tuned you can not realy apreciate the benefits of buy it, fit it & run with no hastles or hair loss!!!!

i tried to tell an x employee of mine but he had to go megasquirt now he runs a carby and wont touch ecu's!!! lol lol lol

ok fair enough, i feel that i'm quite capeable of putting the kit together, but as for the ppl that are not confadendt, you can buy as preassembled unit for a couple of hundred more..

hey bud you miss the point its not assembling the kit thats hard its getting it all up and running don't get me wrong but i like what bowling and grippo are trying to do but its for geek's with time to waste and lifes to short!

it took bruce 4 hrs to check and lay out the kit and board

3 hrs to solder it
2 hrs to box it
8 hrs to wire it
50 hrs to find wtf went wrong and it was only something simple
10 hrs to tune it
plus countles geeting it to cold start right

i bet every megasquirt on this foprum has been through similar coz you alway doubt yourself what if i did this wrong?

but if you fit a comercially made ecu itsa tested and there is no doubting yourself or warranty

so it more like

4hrs fit
4hrs tune
4hrs cold starts

and you save on some ashley and martin visits
