Hey guys new to the forums and gotta question already, probably dumb anyway.

Had to get under the rocker cover today to fish out part of a broken oil cap on my EF XR6. Got all the Air intake gear off and the pipes and leads too, all ready to get it off.
Only, when it comes to getting the cover off, the back of it hits the firewall, and cant clear the s**t under it.

SO my Q is, is there any trick to getting the RC off?

Any help would be awesome
Cheers.

they sit pretty close but I've never had any clearance issues in removal.

Lift the back first, then the front and slide it back and up.

A few wriggles and it'll come off!

Last resort would be to jack up the tanny a little.
Your rear engine mount could be worn and lowers the engine causing it to fowl.

Get the right angle ;)
lol, they come out, try doing it with an EA-ED when the loom is there.
Gotta kind of lift, pull forward till it hits the rocker gear, then lift up and come out with the front of the rocker cover a bit lower.

The soundproof crap or whatever it is against the firewall need to be crushed up a bit. Just push on it with your fingers behind the rocker cover to soften it up, then lift the rocker cover off a bit and push it hard against the firewall while lifting, once it clears the rocker gear at the back, should come off easy.

say what ?

As others have said it's all about the angle. EA-ED are much harder.

Off topic. When you pull inlet apart it pays to stuff inlet tubes and throttle body with rags/paper towel so nothing drops in or builds a nest in there (wasps etc) while youv'e got it apart.

Also when you have rocker off fill oil drain holes with same before there is any chance to drop something down there, that includes timing cover opening.
