For those of you who have replaced your alternators...how did you do it. My car is an EF i6 and I cant get the alternator off. took off the two bolts, earth point and electrical plug, but the thing wont come off. it pivots where the lower bolt goes (swivels up and down) but i cant get it to remove. any ideas? thanks

They have a oversized roll pin, much like a washer bush. when you tighten the lower bolt, the bush clamps the alterator and takes up the slack.

Once this is levered or tilted with pressure they come off easy.

Its an idea to knock this bush out a little before refitting and then tighten as normal.

I just drew a picture (sorry I'm not an artist  so you will have to use your imagination. The roll pin is pushed out and takes up slack as the bolt is done up. To refit it is easier if this roll pin is knocked back in a bit. It will then push back out when it is done up. Hope this helps.
