Hey,
My crappy EF is making bad vibrations and rumbling noises when I get up to highway speeds. It's through the whole car and the gear stick, not the steering wheel (which is often the case). It's only there when I'm decelerating or cruising, and disappears completely when accelerating. It also only appears at about 90km/h and gradually gets worse and it's very bad at about 110-120km/h. I'm thinking diff? I dunno... Cheers, Dave. |

my ef has a similar situation, all my 4 wheels/tyres need a balance, cause when i put my stockies on, the vibration is gone.
my diff bearings are starting to make noise too.

Does it go away when you accelerate?

mostly yes, as soon as i back off or sit on a certain speed its there again. it's mainly 120+ km/h though.

Very interesting. I'll go get my wheels balanced and see if it helps.
One of my tyres has a flat-spot too, so I'm sure that doesn't help. I didn't think that vibration from something like this would go away with acceleration - weird hey. |

When mine done that, it was because the car was too low...i had ultra lows in it. Turned out to be the diff pinion angle. To fix, either raise, or get an el diff with upper control arm adjustments.

Hey yeah, that's something I hadn't really though of.
It does have superlows, and the guards just sit over the tyres at the back. But then again it's always been that low, I can't remember when the problem started I've been ignoring it that long! Far out, could be a million things lol |

yeah man I agree with XR6 EF, my new ef had the same problem. My front uni was shot, replaced it and everything is great. When u come down a hill with the clutch in or in neutral can u hear a knock or feel one? that was the biggest hint in mine, there should have been rollers in the 4 joints but I had none it was hitting metal on metal not good!,you tend to drop the shaft at that stage especially if u like to go out and play.
