You'd think by now that there would be gaskets available that would be technologically far superior to the stock gaskets wouldn't you?

Don't blame it just on gaskets, it is corrosion, head bolts, head bolt pattern, overall head design and the biggest thing two different thermal expansion rates of two different metals.

Even happens in Jap engines, otherwise I wouldn't have replaced head gaskets on a RB30 engines etc, just there is far more Falcon's on Aussie roads than Jappas.

Someone told me the other day that part of the I6's problem is that the head bolts are too far apart!?!

Increasing the distance between the head studs increases the chances of the head warping or allowing uneven pressure over the head deck. Which leads itself to problems


Personally, id nearly go V8 JUST for the sound. Its just so sweet :oops:
