My EF Fairmont died on me this weekend. I found that I had no spark and the enjectors did not operate when I cranked the motor, the fuel pump is comming on. I checked the coil and the Crank sensor both seem fine. The cam is turning over fine the starter is a bit slugish.

Please HELP

Check your fuses, in particular the CRT LAMP. IF this is blown you will get these exact symptoms.

Checked all fuses in the car driver side under the dash and next to the water tank in the engen compartment.

Found a fault, the engine earth (-) wire had a resistance of more than 50 ohm, I replaced it.

I now have fuel but still no spark. EEC is giving me "126" MAP sensor.

Could you point me in the right direction? The questions that come up with me is:

1. Would the map sensor error course the "no spark" condition?

2. Is there a way to test the MAP sensor?

3. Can I reset the MAP sensor error?

4. Where is the coil pack driven from? The EEC or a external module of some kind.

Please HELP!!!':('

I had a auto electrician look at it, it was a waste of time and money. :(

The MAP sensor is on the firewall behind the intake manifold. It outputs a square wave that changes in frequency relative to pressure differential between the manifold and ambient. The first place to look is make sure its vacuum line is connnected both ends and next the electrical connections are solid. The Map sensor mainly controls fueling so I doubt it has anything to do with your lack of spark. If the high resistance is anything to do with the current situation then I would be focusing in on the Crank Angle Sensor and the Cam Angle Sensor first.
