unless it was an ls1 im not hugely surprised... 5.0litre v8's are fair game for lightly modded 4 lite sixes...

The 5.0 litre Commo's (I used to drive the old mans VR SS auto and VS Clubbie manual) aren't overly fast and yeah, as said many times before, a manual XR6 has their measure on the road (which, at the time, I did :) ), but boy they sound bloody fantastic and feel great too.

i have had a few runs with commos on the street (only up to the speed limit... no seriously!) and i have won everytime.

but each time i have been at the drags i end up racing VS v8s. they are about 2 or 3 tenths quicker down the strip.

so it comes down to the conditions.

i ran against a VT1 clubby last time i was at the strip, and we both got the same times. Real comparison was on the highway when he was in front and i was behind, and we both overtook a car at once, the torque of the 5.0 was working for him!

and they sound s**t hot too!! lol

They're nothing special unless they are cammed or have some nice diff gears. I've been against my mates VR SS, CAI, Extractors, Exhaust, he gets me off the line but from a rolling start we've even, they just sound good that's all.

only in the HSV senator range, there was a stroker, 215i, 6 speed manual

Thats right but the 215KW were in the VT HSV Senators. I think the yellow GTS VS's were about the top KWs for the VR/VS about 195KW?.

Yeah you could option up the Clubbie's and Senators but the GTS' came standard with the stroker 5.7 with 215kw, and 6 speed manual, plus Hydratrack diff.
THe VR GTS-R's came with a 6 speed Hollinger box if i recall correctly, and the 215kw motor standard.

I got it wrong the VT in the pic is a 220kw senator & very low kms and I only think the VT had the 220KW mtr.

Yeah they look weird, but it would still be worth over 40k if in immac condition and the km's to match.
Just for a VR commie...
