on the way to work i noticed a car up ahead wearing some car bra camo so i caught up to it to see what it was, as it turns out it was an orion - traffic was too heavy to hang out the side of my car with my camera phone, but i managed to make some good mental notes about it.

* roofline is very much more square than the AU-BF style looks like a lot more rear passenger entry room

*headlights/tailights similar in construction to current ones, headlights are pinched up at the indicator end

*front grille was very similar to current (but couldnt tell exact shape or what the surround looked like)

*bonnet of similar profile to current

had matt black 18-19 inch rims and a low profile spoiler - so i may guess it was an XR of some description

from what i could tell it looks similar to the artists impression pics someone posted up from wheels/motor a while back.

also my mum claims to have seen one without the car bra on (from her description it couldnt be anything else) and said that the HUGE airdam from the artists pics is present.

i was going to tail him till he stopped so i could get pics, but he was going so slow i Couldnt stay with him

The 2008 Ford Orion was front page news Headlines in the April edition of Wheels, Actually having any Ford on any wheels mag is actually news in itself as Wheels tends to br bias towards Holden, But yeah Jose great catch on seeing it in the flesh

i thought about putting it in OT, but since this is the MOTORING and motorsport thread i chucked it in here.

Im gonna get my mum to be on the lookout for the mystery ford with the big front airdam (she has seen it at the same place two weeks in a row) and ill head over and check it out.

also i think the guys in the one i saw today were doing some type of data acuisition as the car had a huge box sitting in the middle of the dash and they were all looking at it while driving (backseat passenger was in the middle and leaning well forward)

its the ONE good perk of living in geelong is that a lot of the new models seem to get road tested around here
