can't help with where.
but you would be better off spending the money on other areas like swaybars or good shocks, you'll get a better result. Unless it's all for looks and braging |

Unless you are having trouble shutting the bonnet because the guards are touching it, you dont need one, nor ever will. Falcons dont run Mac Struts like Commodores, and dont need the towers braced.
I have seen competion falcons used in rallying have no troubles woth towers coming together, and thats not through lack of trying. Its all bling crap from brand X. Keep your money in your wallet mate, its too hard to earn. |

fair enough, i was thinking of ways to help the handeling, done the shocks and stuff, helped but still not happy. spose breaks and general balance of car is next to look at.

a good wheel alignment is what you need. Not one that puts every thing to stock specs. for camber ask for 2negative on passenger side and 1.5negative on drivers side castor 8positive toe 0deg and what shock and 'stuff' have you got? |

Shocks, bushes, all in steering arm and stuff. trying to eliminate as much slop as possible. God damn XG and stupid steering box. EB steering is so much better.

If you put a vernier between the front towers of an E-series and measure the distance they are apart with:
a. the car sitting on the ground, and b. the car in the air with either a jack under the k-frame or by having it sit on Jackstands on the sill jacking points then the difference is nearly 2.0mm. Thus, the brace will make a difference in terms of holding the car rigid. Having said that, movement in the top of the towers on a Falcon will not alter the suspension geometry like it does on a Commodore or any other car with a Macpherson Strut. You won't notice any difference after you fit one to your ute. (anyone who tells you that they have fitted one and it improves the handling of a falcon road car has just told you that they're a wanker...) A wheel alignment will do wonders for your handling. You'll be lucky to get 8deg of castor, but 5 will do and is more achieveable. Have the camber angles the same, and don't exceed 1deg negative. More than that is wasted with the increased castor angle (which is there to give you camber when you need it - while cornering). Have either 2.0mm toe in or toe out. neutral toe will leave the handling a bit vague. toe in will make the car easy to drive and stable, toe out will give better turn in but make the car 'tramline' a bit, particularly at speed. |

Hahahahahahaha Yea rightio, ill give it a shot. Just got new wheels with lower profile tyres as well so that should help a minuet bit as well. I know the ute is like driving a road train sometimes and arnt ment to handle well but im just trying to make it handle a bit better and see what i can learn along the way. I look at it like an experement so i know what to do and what not to do for my next car. Cheers for all the advise guys and gurls. If i get any difference at all ill let you know. Scotty

Has anybody noticed that the Mustangs of the late 60's and early 70's had tower braces that went to the firewall, like the early 60's Falcons????
Anybody ever looked at a Falcon that has been thrashed over dirt roads most of its life???? and seen the cracks they get at the firewall where the inner guards meet the firewall, and the spots welds crack too??? The bracing can only help the integredy of the body at the suspension mounting points.
