Yeh 8" but not worth it.
Free air subs suck.
Theres ample room for a 10 or 12 behind the seat and over the diff.
Cant really use that room anyhow.

Free-air are fine thank you...mine work in harmony. They are not that clear, but they do punch.

Rockwood make a good 8" sub. Not a very well known brand but I bought two of their 8" subs a little while back for $60 brand new for the pair. They certainly did the job...... However, that said, they didn't even come close to a boxed 12". Even a cheapo $79 Autobarn job will woop a free-air 8".

Depends on what your looking for Rockford are a very well known brand name in the car audio market ... the 8" gear can sound awesome...I wouldnt personally go free air ..a nice fibreglass enclosure would make a decent 8 or 10" driver go off...make sure u deaden or do something with the shelf cause most rattle quite a bit ..again depends on the power of the chosen gear and the setup.

If you go an RF 8" and can afford the P2D range either P2D48 for the 4ohm DVC option or PRD28 for the 2ohm DVC option the new 2007 models look hot and they punch out 200w RMS which aint bad for such a small driver in this price range...can vouge for how good these sound...very tight bass notes

RockWood... I kinda expected someone to misread it or think I had made a typo... Rockford are very well known.

I put a 10" pioneer in the EB in exactly that spot and that absolutely pumps. Back window jumps around a bit

Rockwood are a cheap ripoff of Rockford and Kenwood mixed together. Ebay specials.

Sure an 8" free air sub will make noise, but it wont do what a sub is meant to. It wont play low ~20hz. It wont sound good trying to either. Free air subs really are a waste of money.
Buy a 12, make a box to fit across the diff and you'll be happy as larry.

...well a sub is meant to play low frequencies...doesn't necessarily mean it has to go as low as 20Hz. My 2 x 10" Pioneer Free-airs can hit the 40Hz but that's about it. It won't play lower, not because it is free-air, it's because it has a lower surface area...if I had the 2 x 12" Free-Airs, they would have played the low note well...just that the clarity is not as defined as an enclosed sub. I only prefer free-air due to the space saving.

It is not a waste of money to buy free-air. It just depends what you want out of it. Not everyone wants the best system in the world and not everyone can tell the difference between a muffling sub and a super clear sub.

See if you can pick up just a stock Ford one and stick it in there, be sure to seal around the hole and the high mount brake light. It took a fair bit of f@rt-arsing around to get mine pretty much rattle free, but it still rattles a bit. But still, a sub is better than none.
