G'day, I'm wondering if I can get some opinions on what you may think this problem is.
The problem is more noticable under heavier braking, although it's not seriously heavy. It is sort of a shuddering vibration, and it seems to come more towards the rear of the car. It seems to happen more after the brakes are warm, I'm not sure. Both front and rear pads have recently been replaced, however I am told it was happening before this. The brake pedal has a fairly spongey feel to it, but I doubt air in the lines (if that is what causes the spongeyness) would cause the vibrations. Could this be some s**t wheel bearings? I don't know that it would be, because it's not a clunk, it's the sort of feel you get when an old tram or train is slowing down. The brakes seem to still stop pretty well, but the vibration is not good. Any opinions would be great, cheers. |

have the rotors been replaced. mine were undersized and apparently, they get warm and warp. then your brakes shudder. i got new rotors and problem 95% better.

Yeah the rotors were apparently machined... but they look quite scratched an worn. It is possible they have been machined too many times and are undersized like yours were pugsley.
Cheers. |

yeah if they werent machine properly they will still shudder its a common ford fault its best to replace them and do the front bearings at the same time and you should be sweet

Yeah, just need to clarify that it's the same shudder though.
It happens at about maybe from 70 to 30 hz? As in, it's about the same speed as driving over the lines on the side of the road at 100km/h... But yeah, all up, what sort of price range are we looking at for new brake rotors, including parts/labour etc. Is Repacking/renewing wheel barings costly as well? Cheers |

Very common issue on most later model fords....E series to BA,BF
The shudder comes and goes on my car, I live with it and will replace the rotors when they've had it altogether. |

So it's a common thing, cool. Over the years the family has had an EA, an EB, 3 EDs, and 2 ELs, but haven't come across this! We did however note that the brakes were a bit sub-standard, however not on the two V8s we had.
Cheers guys! |
