I cant remember how much i bought my one for. Think about $40. Bought mine from supercheap. Repco right next door had the same brand but for an extra $15 more. So just shop around.

Thanks I think I'll buy a torque wrench a compression guage and a few other things tomorrow, For a torque wrench is an $80 kingchrome one decent? 6nm - 108nm should cover everything on the car yeah?
Also with the timing marks what exactly does it mean by aligned? Just sitting directly next to eachother because that's what mine are doing so does that mean I don't need to check it? |

if you pull all the leads off from the plugs (after you number them so you know where you have to put them back on again) you wont have to squeeze down under the manifold to touth the coil or distributor.
you will have to take the leads off the plugs to get the plugs out anyway so you might as well take them all off at the start

Yeah but if the leads are only off the spark plugs an only connected to the distributer wont sparks fly out of them since they're still connected to the distributer?

they will spark if they're close to an earth like anything metal in the car or yourself. Either isolate them from anything or to avoid screwing around, just pull the lead out of the dizzy which comes from the coild (the centre lead) and make sure the end of it isnt near anything.

If you had a anchor above you yes maybe.
'No' you'll get a bite from it. a tad higher than a lawn mowers spark.

Its got a very high voltage but a low current so the most you would get is a little belt, but try avoiding it at all costs.

I am aware a lot of people survive the spark experience. I used to build CDI setups a while back and got bitten on occassion. However I know of one person killed by the HT.
The issue is not so much the current here, there is not enough to cause serious burns! But there is enough to cause your heart to stop or beat out-of sync (posssibly ventricular fibrillation). Both tend to spoil a good weekend. In the USA there is about 50% more chance of being shot dead by a cop than there is of dying from ignition shocks. I assume with the cops it depends a lot on what you are doing when they are around. Ignition - go figure. Have a nice day, C |
