ok, i have a DVC sub thats currently running off a monoblock, with one voice coil running off each output channel...is this running at 4ohms?

How do i wire my sub so it runs at 2 ohms (as i've always had it running at 4ohms)? Do i run one output channell to the first voice coil, then run wires from there to the other voice coil's same polarity?

eg
amp+ --> sub+ (1st voice coil) --? sub+ (2nd voice coil)
amp- --> sub- (1st voice coil) --? sub- (2nd voice coil)

Ohh, yeah each voice coil is 4ohms

cheers nick

Most monoblocks will have 2 outputs for ease of connection of 2 subs or 2 voice coils. The outputs are internally wired in parallel, so two 4 ohm subs or 4 ohm coils will be a 2 ohm load on the amp.

Your amp is wired to 2 ohm.
The other way to do it is link the +'s on the sub and -'s on the sub and run the wires to one output on the amp. This still gives a 2 ohm load and uses slightly less wire :)

yep its easy to remove carpet.

as for subs u have few options get amp with 2 channals (one for each coil amp must support 4 ohm)

or parrall up teh voice coils (to get 2ohm)

2ohm would be the way get large monoblock (will ahve one out put hence name)

Parallel connection is as easy as the connecting the positives from both subs together and the 2 negatives together, from there connect the pos and neg to appropriate terminals on the amp.
