Hey guys, got the manual pedal box into the ghia.

This car is originally Mash85's off the forums so i made sure i did a clean and nice job.

Anyway, My manual box has the bellhousing joined onto it, can i jack the car up, take out the autobox and bellhousing out as a hole and just jack the Manualbox/Bellhousing at once?

Cheers all!

ummm....yes. unbolt auto, remove flex plate and converter blah blah bolt on manual.we put the manual bellhousing on first (top bolts are a royal C*** with a gearbox in the way) then f@rt around aligning clutch and s**t.

lol how many of us have done T5 conversion without the luxury of a hoist?

I'd say nearly everyone. A decent jack and two stands is all thats needed. But yes the box/clutch can be a prick to line up

Yes, done it single handed on ramps. The hardest job is the starter motor. Bolt the bellhousing on first and box up after that. Tip: make sure the clutch is centered and grease up the input shaft. Dont forget the spigot bearing.

hardest thing on mine was the upper bellhousing bolts. a rattle gun at CMS were on them for over and hour. looked as though it had leaked from rear welsch plug and corroded the threads.

not even he man could have gotten them off with a bar and socket

You can get them started with an open ender/ring spanner from up top. If you need more leverage connect a large ring spanner to the open end of the first spanner.

I did my conversion with a set of stands and a trolley jack and 2 car ramps...worked wonders but was a prick to do...worth every penny, though i don't i'll be changing the clutch like that :shock:

box/cltuch wasn't much of a prick when i got my conversion done...it slotted in quiet easily. though the prick of a job were the final top 2 bolts which were a nuisance. I think tim is finding it hard to remove too.

phong =P~

yeah.. top 2 bolts were hard. Clutch and box are going into today.

The pedal box really wasnt that hard, phongus helped me thru most of it on msn.. haha.

Cheers guys
