I'm going to replace the head gasket on my EF soon with an AU gasket.
The tension setting for the NEW headbolts are 30nm then 120 degrees. A question on methodology however..... Do I wind through 120 degrees on each bolt according to the bolt sequence in one go, OR do I step up each bolt in turn. EG. all bolts get 60 degrees, then 120 degrees after that. Which way is best? Thanks for any help/advice I have an impact socket single hex and breaker bar.

I would personally torque them all up the give em 120 degrees each in one go instead of stopping then retightening

you should go with the torque settings on the head gasket, not what came ith the head bolts.

why? it's the bolt that need to be stretched to a predetermend length. and in this case using AU bolts and AU gasket both would say the same thing anyway. Just set the tension first. You will have to tension each bolt in order more then once, usualy 2 or 3 times or more untill the tension wrench clicks with out moving the bolt. then give each bolt the full 120. just make sure you have a good lube on all threads and under the head of the bolts. If you can get some use ARP bolt lube |

As you do your bolts, mark the heads, e.g. one stroke for torque, and a cross stroke for angle.
This way you know what's what, just in case you get distracted, e.g. phonecall or whatever.
