hey all.

yesterday i just finish fitting a 5ltr motor and gear box to my eb (first time i've done this).

the car was running a 5ltr before i bought it but the last owner pulled the motor and box out and thats how i got it.

now...

i've finish connecting the plugs and vac lines and all that but when i got in it to test fire nothing happens.

when i turn the key the dash doesnt light up like normal.

it just says brake fail when i turn it to start the car.

the indicators and parkers stay on as soon as i connect up the battery.

does anyone have any thoughts to help me out cause im seriously stumped.

no suggestion to dumb or stupid lol.

cheers.

Does the vehicle have smartlock? Is the ECU the one that came with the engine?

alright here goes.

i ripped the old looms out of the black car and put the looms from the donner car.(looms in black car where home made and where s**t.)

my black car didnt have abs or smart lock but the doner car did.

i didnt add abs or smart lock to the black car.

the ecu that i have in the black car is the 1 that came with the black car.

please dont tell me this is why lol.

alright swapped ova the whole dash its now with smartlock bem and ebxr8 ecu

and same thing happens.

i've found out that if i connect up every thing to the battery bar the big fat red cable that runs to the starter motor everything will light up and work fine.

gauges light up, shows pressures, fuel pump humms and smartlock dis engages.

but as soon as i touch the red cable on it everything shuts off and the indicators just light up.

any more suggestions?

Well its def the problem tho. Sounds very characteristic of a short

Check the starter motor out for any shortcuts to earth

See if you can find a spare one somewhere and without need to mechanically hook it up, wire it up and see if she cranks
