Hey guys,
I put my Fairy in to the local Ford Dealership to have it serviced a month ago and asked to have it inspected and anything requiring repair, to go ahead and repair it, Today i have the rego inspection and was knocked back on the following By the same dealership ! -

1 - L/H Parker Light Dimmer then the R/H Parker ( I have replaced this )

2 - Windscreen Wipers need Replacing ( They are only 3 months old and have no signs of wear, no crazing marks, no splits etc, just a little dirty from Cobars red dust!)

3 - Intermediate Muffler Needs replacing ( Has a hole perfectly round about 3 millimetre across )

My question is - can i fill the hole using 'Knead It' or 'Metal Fix' to fill it and stop the leak or does the entire muffler box actually have to be fully replaced ?

I know this sounds a little stingy but the nearest place is 300km away for a new muffler in an asap time frame.

Cheers any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Treay

mate the whole in your muffler wont be fixed with just a bit of sealant or metal fix. as the whole will soon increase in size and your boggy bog fix will fall straight out. suggest you get a new one should only be about $150 if you get it instalded by them 1-2 hours.
clean your wiper blades and tell them to shove it.
Dont understand your lighting problem, if you have replaced the globes i take it? there only $5, try cleaning the contacts on the clips maybe there coroded which is a usual problem.

Yeah i have fixed the park light prob, as for the muffler, the car ran out of rego today and the guy in Cobar who used to do our mufflers closed shop 3 weeks ago ( Half my luck) so i'll have to take it to Dubbo, I'll ring Dubbo up and see if i can get one sent out and let ford charge me an arm and a leg to fit it!.

The muffler box that is in the car by the way is not yet 12 months old, The hole in it has no rust around it, the box has no scratches on it, no dents, yet a perfectly round hole ?... I think i may have been sold a dodgy muffler when i got my system fitted!

Anywho, Thanks for the replies, I'll have to trailer it to Dubvegas on my days off and get it fixed over there.

Probably get the roadie done over there too i think.

Cheers

the hole in the muffler is designed to be there, it is there to allow the condensation to leak out they should not have knocked the muffler for that..

if you find some one with a mig welder and get them to put a small dob of weld on it that should do the job..

but i would take it someware else for roadworthy..

If it's only 12 months old isn't the muffler still under warranty?
Bog it and get the roadworthy.
You have already paid for it from the dealer.
It may be worth investigating this possible condensation hole business though?

Froudey, Rob at complete exhaust does all my work mate, he has done my vette, MR2 and the fairy, he does a great job, Turns out the muffler has a small crack near a weld and i have inspected this, it looks as though i have some how hit something biggish.... and cracked a weld. Anywho i will be welding it up as it is pretty fresh although very small.

gogetta - When i need to replace anything i can't just run down to my local and have it done, i have to travel to Dubbo NSW, Mate this gets expensive if your only going there for one thing at a time you know...

thanks for the replies people, i got it under control thankgod.

Cheers.

when they do a roadworthy inspection, they jsut test operation, IE if the wipers dont clear the windscreen its not roadworthy. doesnt matter if theyre dirty or cracked or what. same with exhaust. block the end, if it leaks its a fail.

did u take it to the ford dealer for the repairs?
