Had a real bad noise in my EF wag.
Sounded like the motor was lunching itself1
Turned out to be 3 of the 4 bolts on the tourqe converter were loose!

Q. 1--------How common is this?

Q. 2--------Would there be any other damage?

Q. 3--------Should I locktight em?

Cheers guys!

Q1, I had the same thing a few years ago, only on idle, could not diagnose it, took it to ford and without looking he said TC bolts loose, so I would say Common.

Q2, I doubt it until they come loose enough to fall out.

Q3, I torqued them up and never had another problem but it can't hurt.

Weel you felt my pain twason!

Took it to a coupla mechanics, they couldn't work it out!
Water pump was rattling too, so I replaced that and the timing chain, had the transmission serviced, ran it without the fan belt for a few minutes and worked it out my own bloody self.
Gotta find a good FORD mechanic in the Newcastle area!
Anyone know one?
