Had a real bad noise in my EF wag.
Sounded like the motor was lunching itself1 Turned out to be 3 of the 4 bolts on the tourqe converter were loose! Q. 1--------How common is this? Q. 2--------Would there be any other damage? Q. 3--------Should I locktight em? Cheers guys! |

Q1, I had the same thing a few years ago, only on idle, could not diagnose it, took it to ford and without looking he said TC bolts loose, so I would say Common.
Q2, I doubt it until they come loose enough to fall out. Q3, I torqued them up and never had another problem but it can't hurt.

Took it to a coupla mechanics, they couldn't work it out! Water pump was rattling too, so I replaced that and the timing chain, had the transmission serviced, ran it without the fan belt for a few minutes and worked it out my own bloody self. Gotta find a good FORD mechanic in the Newcastle area! Anyone know one? |

Tourqed em up with a lump of wood, went up nice and tight! Might get it up on a hoist and replace the bolts to be sure! |

Me too. They wont fall out tho' as the engine plate is too close. Took me a while to diagnose it tho as well
