Ive got an ED XR6 and have always wanted the full Fairmont luxuries (power windows, climate, trip computer), and recently picked up a wreck EBII Fairmont.
So im considering doing a full wiring swap so I dont have to do any dodgy cutting and adding. Has anyone tried this? Anything I should look out for? Mine is manual and the Fairy is Auto so would there be any problems in that regard? In assuming the full interior has to come out including dash (that'll give me a chance to re-enforce the firewall anyway). What about underbonnet wiring? Will that have to be swaped over or do I not have to worry about it? Time is not really a factor so I can come and go to as I please. Thanks in advance.

Which full electrics dont you have?
The Sunroof, and Window Electrics are usually seperate harnesses from the main one that run under the Drivers and Passenger seat. You might find it easy enough just to install the Power Window Harness into your XR Nigel |

The best and in my opinion the only way for this to work is to do a full dash swap for the climate control and (less so cos this can be done with a couple of hours work into your original dash) the trip computer to work the best. This way there is no splicing of wires as the mont loom is the high series already set up for the climate control and trip.
I did just this the other week to my car and it involved removal of the original airbox and replacement with the climate control one. The only part of the body harness that I swapped out was the cruise control loom(you will already have this present in your XR body harness) but then I do not have power windows either. Your engine bay harness will be adequate as the only thing that is different there is the ambient temp sensor for which there should already be a plug. Your engine bay harness will plug straight up to the high series dash loom easily. I started a thread on this just the other week with photo's and a bit of a rundown so have a look there to reassure yourself it is not too difficult. As far as the power windows go. I doubt they are a seperate loom to the high series body loom, but have a look at both cars and see for yourself. With a wreck there you are probably in the best position to make that call.

Look for "Dash Conversion" now on the second mpage of Interior Mods.
