i just fitted a pair of focal 6" splits into the ef (same doors as an ed) and i had to cut tabs out of the door so the speaker will sit flush with the original speaker hole

i was just thinking, would it be possible to the cut the current speaker mesh out of the door and sit the covers that come with the speakers? im thinking that it might just depend on the size of the cover and the size of the speaker mesh in the door , (i put an arrow pointing at wat im talking about) thanks

I'm fairly sure the stock grill is just hot glued to the back of the door trim so it should be just a case of removing that then enlarging the hole if need be.

yea itll be fine, and the reason why the focal speaker didnt fit is because the measurement is not taken from the outer basket diam. i did the same thing in my install thread ages ago with my focal speakers
