Need to evaluate what you want to do with the car...

XR6 - great in stock trim and will outrun the stocko V8. Prolly use a bit less fuel when puttering around. However mods available are somewhat limited. Well documented cases of head gasket failure with the I6.

Xr8 - great if you really wanna work it. Take your choice of replacement head/valvetrain, intake manifolds, throttle bodies, MAFs etc. etc. Engine will outlive most other parts of the car... and the sound of a windsor at 5500rpm enough to make you drool...

I understand that the XR8 has a lot more potential to be modded, but in stock form its pretty underpowered, which i think is s**t.
It should have been able to out perform the XR6 stock

I'm not too keen on going from a 94db V8 to an I6. I think it's definately going to have to be the 8.

What's the torque like on the 8's?

The car I'm getting rid of has been dynoed @ almost 400 foot pounds of torque in 3rd @ 2680RPM
