We have an '06 Focus and the beltminder is giving me the s**t hardcore everytime I drive it as its one of the most annoying and cheap a*** sounding beeps I've heard. I like to put on my seatbelt after I start the car and for those 6 to 10 seconds its the most annoying part of sitting in a Focus, apart from the laggy accelerator and s**t uncomfortable seats. Mind you it is the base model whatever it is.
Anyways, apart from that rant... has anyone disabled the beltminder of a >2005 Focus as I cant get the disable sequence to work for me. Is there some sort of 'special' way to buckle and unbuckle the seatbelt coz this thing is really driving me insane. I cant just remove a fuse as it will also disable some other things that I dont want disabled. I just want the rid the car of that horrendous beep. There is nothing in the user manual to allow this thing to be permanently disabled, only to disable it for a single ignition cycle. In the manual for the US and UK versions, there is a permanent disable sequence. Could this mean that I'm just wasting my time as the AUS version cant be permanently disabled? Heres the procedure that I've been trying to follow........ Before following the procedure, make sure that: • The parking brake is set • The gearshift is in P (Park) (automatic transmission) • The ignition switch is in the OFF position • The driver and front passenger safety belts are unbuckled 1. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN (or ON) position. (DO NOT START THE ENGINE) 2. Wait until the safety belt warning light turns off. (Approximately 1 minute) • Step 3 must be completed within 50 seconds after the safety belt warning light turns off. 3. For the seating position being disabled, at a moderate speed, buckle then unbuckle the safety belt 9 times, ending in the unbuckled state. (Step 3 must be completed within 50 seconds after the safety belt warning light turns off.) • After Step 3, the restraint system warning light (airbag light) will be turned on for three seconds. 4. Within 10 seconds of the light turning on, at a moderate speed, buckle then unbuckle the safety belt. • This will disable the BeltMinder feature for that seating position if it is currently enabled. As confirmation, the restraint system warning light will flash 4 times per second for 3 seconds. • This will enable the BeltMinder feature for that seating position if it is currently disabled. As confirmation, the restraint system warning light will flash 4 times per second for 3 seconds, followed by 3 seconds with the light off, then followed by the restraint system warning light flashing 4 times per second for 3 seconds again. I'm s**t sorry about this long a*** read over a belt minder but it is really getting on my nerves. Any help would be gold. Cheers! |

Check under the dash for a box with something like buzzer or beeper on it, with a plug on it, disconnect it... works on the new Holwoo Karina...

check under the carpet there should be 2 wires going to the seat belt stalk. cut and join them together. this will fool the car into thinking the seat belt is engaged
