i got given a perfectly good head (for my car) to day so i'm gonna have a go at changing it myself lol (should be fun) and then spend the 1000 bucks on chipping it for now.

yeah if done right can save you some cash, for other mods.
ratchet spanners are a godsend for the intake agreed. while the head is off, get some light work done to it??? port/polish, maybe a cam/springs setup? |

Theres a few things to watch! Go easy on the chain guide bolt at the top. It sticks out the front of the head, 10mm it is. They seem to lock up quite nicely over time, so if it wont come easily, get an impact socket with six sides to stop it from rounding. Also, put the valve gear back on top of the head and do up semi tight before tightening the head bolts. This just makes sure you can get the valve gear on around the head bolts as theres not a lot of room.
