My cars got a cat back exhaust and im looking to get extractors for it but I noticed that the cats and headers that are on there now (which im assuming is standard) are welded together.
Is that normal? I always thought they were just bolted together. Does that mean that ill have to get both aftermarket headers and cats togehter?

Essentially yes, it is possible to cut the old cats off and re-use them, but a set of hiflow units aren't that much more dollars and unlock a few extra HP.

You could do that too... Just don't get caught by the EPA.

For the miniscule gains that may be made by doing so i wouldnt bother, not worth the $10,000 or so fine. If you are on a tight budget i would get the pacemakers and have your std cats modified to fit up. They pretty much flow enough anyway, i cant see you getting much of a power gain with hi-flows, not worth the $$$$ in my opinion.
