Ok when coming up to a set of lights and applying the brake the car drops in idle and goes to stall the revs back up. At idle it is a bit rough also. I first thought it was a vaccum leak but the vaccum lines are set up different to a normal 4L so i have nothing to compare it to.
I have changed leads a plugs, but i had a look at the balance pipe between the airbox and converter and it looks like it has some small holes in it and might be the problem. Any help would be great

A damaged balance tube will give the symptoms you are describing. Go to bunnings and get some of the water saver hose.

You will find your idle jet/circuit is blocked with a waxy crap. This is the solenoid that is to the left and on top of the converter.I have done my sons car a couple of times.

the black idle control your talking about is that the one which has an electrical plug goin into the back and a hose coming out of it going to the throttle body.

could also be a damaged vacuum brake booster.

That is the stepper motor, the idle circuit is part of the convertor, it is contolled by the top most solenoid rearward on the convertor.
