As per title, why the f**k do I have to belt the s**t outta my brake pedal to start my Ef Mont.

Ahaha, in mothers car you give the fuse box a kick to start it :)

I guess it is the BEM, as I just read Gaz's post on whirlpool also.

If the problem is the car not cranking until you whack it, you could just run a wire from the positive of the keyswitch to the starter relay. If its a problem with the BEM relay, and you don't want to fork out the money or effort in changing it, this will get you by. My EB did the same thing.

My EA did this, had something to do with the immoboliser (don't get my started on that bloody thing), going from being on ot off the car wouldn't start without my foot on the break but when i didn't use it it was fine. I just stopped using it, wasn't worth breaking into, no mods CD player that was useless when it was disconnected from the battery.
