I'm looking for a stock BA/BF motor to put in to a XE falcon I want to do some good but easy mods to it but i dont want to sped the BIG$$$$ if any one could help it would be good! Thanks

Thanks putting a BA/BF motor in an XE falcon with good/easy/cheap mods.. seems to contradict each other.. and is not going to be cheap..
im sure there would be quite a bit of custom work to get the engine wired up to work in the xe.. which would not be cheap.. -ontop of the price of the motor itself.. -(getting cheaper)... and you'd probably have to knock up a custom exhaust.. from say the cat back.. or would have to re-jij the mounts were the exhaust section meet... |

FTG autosalvage can provide a motor and all accessories for $1500ish.
ECU choice is up to you. XTC EMS is a good affordable option at $1200. DIY and it wont be that expensive. |

Oooooh let me be the first to cut you down to size!
you want good but easy mods and you don't want to spend money? I'm sorry but those concepts are mutually exclusive. There are some of us that have been plugging away at this conversion for a while. There is one XF now up and running with a BA engine. 1. Its not easy 2. Its not cheap Better to aim your sights just a little lower. You can do an E-series conversion relatively cheaply and it is MUCH easier than a BA conversion. Search x-falcon.com there is a sticky at the top of the page. Some of the info in it is a little misguided but its enough to get you thinking the job through. .

PMLOL!!!! says you of all people! You have a head start as your car is not an XF and already had a decent gearbox in it. Lets consider $1500 engine $2800 built C10 auto and bellhousing* $1200 ecu $2000 misc parts (rad/fans/fabrication/exhaust) $500 fuel system (bosch 044 etc) $500 tuning $8500 conservative estimate just to get it running N/A.... add a turbo and you are hitting $10k and over *could trim some money if you went T5. I know what i have spent and it hurts to think about it. I am over budget by a fair bit. This is why we aren't seeing many conversions...its simply too bloody pricey!

Ouch, X series FTL in that case.
Im even using a stock EA exhaust bolted up to the BA exhaust manifold. My costs so far include: BA motor and accessories $1500 ECU $1000 + $240 for ignitors. Could have DIY'd the install but didnt so cost is more. Thermos $100 Relays $20 Pod filter and piping which I had lying around $50ish Using the EA gearbox and a standard EA exhaust with an EF tailpipe, the same fuel system as before etc etc. I dont think I have had to buy anything else although it was ages ago that I started everything. I should have went NA to begin with rather than wasting time buying turbo parts and sending myself broke for no gain. |

if you made manifolds to suit could you run ba engine carby'd with an alternate form of ignition?

The ignition is THE MAIN ISSUE!!! There is no provision for a distributor on a BA. Therefore this rules out any retrofit of exisiting ford ignition systems. By a mile the cheapest distributorless ignition system is the MSD digital unit and even that will come in at around $600 on its own. Why the f u c k would you want to have a carby on a BA engine? Isn't that pissing up-wind? 1. it will never perform as well as injected 2. it will never pass emissions 3. it will cost you more in tuning the jets than putting a proper ecu on it in the first place. 4. fabricated intake manifold is going to set you back some coin too /Sorry but carb'ing one is the dumbest idea i've heard yet. //except for the Gas Research carb i'm using on mine ///yes that makes me a hypocrite in a sense

City Parts Plus has BA motors for $550 with 3 months warranty. but the warrenty is void cause u are doing a project but yeah
