I recently bought a 1994 EF Fairmont Ghia (4.0ltr engine). I’ve discovered that the engine needs some work to get into a ‘decent’ condition.
I would like other’s opinions on overhauling engines compared to just a straight changeover. Is there a preference for either? Is it worth considering buying a second engine and basically rebuilding it yourself? I know this would mean a lot of time, but on the other hand, I would also learn a lot from such a project. I would like to hear what people think?

If its an everyday car and not a show pony, I'd look into a Low K AU motor and modify the sump.
ur up for 1500+ for a reco you can get low K AU's for under 700 now (add another 100 for sump mod) and slap it in.
