The Haltech Interceptor is a “piggy back” ECU designed to work in parallel with your existing factory ECU.
The Interceptor provides tuning of fuel mixtures, ignition timing, boost levels and many other features. The Haltech Interceptor is installed using a universal type wiring loom and tuning is done on a laptop. As the Haltech Interceptor works with the factory ECU, you need only tune where necessary, with the factory levels of economy, idle quality, cold start etc being fully maintained. It's compatable with: Ford BA–XR6, XR6T and XR8 Ford EF–AU 4.0L & 5.0L The RRP new is: $1085 AUD So, find a Haltech tuner, install it, tune it, run with it. I paid about $1500 all up for the Haltech, installation and tuning. The tuning component was around $300 of the total price and any tweeking/retuning cost $250. I gained between 15-20rwkw giving a max of 172rwkw with my N/A I6. I know there are allot of after market tuning devices out there and they are probably all as effective as each other in different ways, but I had no trouble with the Haltech and found the power I was looking for. |
