Hi, replaced my Fairmonts factory 3.23 single spinner diff gears with shorter ones, and now am thinking about selling them but dont know what falcons they exactly fit and what to tell people.
After a google i read the housing is different for 3.08 diffs and 3.23/3.45 diffs.... is that right? Also, stupid question, but is there a way to be able to tell if the diff gears given to me are REALLY my old ones, or just some s**t ones that they gave back? |

3.08 housings need grinding to fit larger a*** ive been told.
Which leaves 3.23 and 3.45's are slightly larger inside. Gear sets are that, they have a serial number on the crownwheel and pinion. If you jotted down the number then you can tell.

I have fitted a set of EB XR8 3.27 gears into an XD rear disc brake, 2.92 housing using the original LSD centre, and I also fitted a set of EBII 3.27 gears into my 88EA 2.92 LSD housing, and had no troubles at all.

I cant say I have done it myself so I haven't tackled it, But I have seen on a 3.08 EF the housing had fouled the crownwheel towards the drain hole with 3.45's. anyone else shed light?

Im selling my old diff gears which are a 3.23 ratio.
http://www.fordmods.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=51930 I was asking what cars/housings they fit, so i can pass that onto people because i dont want someone to buy it unless theyre sure its gonna fit theyre car |

Don't know on that one, ^^^^^^^, but many years ago, I fitted a VL diff gear set, 3.45's into a VF Val housing that was 2.92. I still have it in my SV1.
