keep trying with new hoses, no point going for second hand! Try a different shop perhaps?

Just take the old hose to a plumbing supply shop and buy a 90 degree threaded spigot 3/8 outside diameter, use a bit of silicon sealant and you're in business! Mine's lasted over 200,000kms - hose is getting a bit soft now-will reuse the fitting on the new hose when I replace it. Total cost including silastic about $9.00, and it doesn't constantly leak and de-pressurise the cooling system.
