ok, so did my head gasket this week. apart from that taking up way to much time and way to much s**t going wrong i now have some ticking lifters.

i did previously have ticking lifters but only some mornings and at worst they were quiet after about 10 minutes, usually only a few.

Now, i havnt driven my car much since the headgasket cause of other issues. But i just had it idling out the front for about 20 minutes, followed by a 5 minute drive and its still ticking very loud.

After a headgasket how long would you say is normal? i was expecting maybe 10 minutes for them to stop.

pretty p****d off right now cause i cbf pulling it apart again. maybe the car will just vanish over night? :D

have you checked the oil level.
changed the oil and filter.
was the oil and coolant mixed before you did the gasket?

not sure. might have a bit of muck in the rocker gear or oil. i would try driving it for a couple of days and maybe changed the oil again. it should get better, but if it doesn't at least the lifters are easy to replace. If you do replace them, i was told there are some retaining clips that cost about 30 bucks a set and some people skimp on them. Apparently if you don't fit them, the next time the rocker gear is removed the hla's can fall out and sometimes fall down into bad places. :x

yeh, im 99.99% sure i reshimmed it all good.

had 2 in every rocker arm previously and have 2 in every arm now.

ill attach a video file i just made. note it sounds alot worse in real life, and alot more of a metallic sound. i just took it for a 15 minute drive and then took this video.

That sounds BAD !!!!! Did you fit chain tensioner correctly ?? Take rocker cover off and check if oil is getting up there ?? Some gasket may have found its way into an oil gallery etc??? Then check pre load on each lifter..

yeh, the chain has tension. i checked that when i did the tensioner. was no slack in it.

think tomorrow might entail pulling it apart and cleaning all the lifters out.
