Hi guys -
This may have been covered already so please don't get cranky if it has =) Have a mate who moved down from queensland and has an XH XR6 Ute - he has a K&N Pod filter attached, but has a bent stainless pipe connecting it to the throttle body - I have a pod filter on my ED XR6 already, but am just wondering if anyone can help me locate or source a pipe similar somewhere in the melbourne area, and if so, how much would it cost? Just figure a stainless or equivalent pipe would have to be better than the EA airbox hose i have the pod attached to at the moment..... Any help or abuse would be greatly appreciated =D Thanks guys.........

mandrel intake - very popular mod - easy to do! any exhaust shop *should* be able to do it! should be around $150 or so

A freind of mine just got a k&N pod for his 4.0l. We Mounted it on that airbox piping as well, but after a play we had a look at it and relised that it would fit straight on the throttlebody. the performance difference was instantly noticable (moreso then going from $20 pod filter to K&N). I think that the clutch fan may have something to do with that as it gets preety windy and cool next to it.
Although if looks are your thing, madrel intakes are awesome

As this topic of POD filter has been covered for the 4,025366351226622 time For all you noobs please dont equat noise for extra performance. Because you will find that is all you will get. Also that and hot air will only be sucked in to it from the engine bay. The reason I say is this because I have been their and done all that even custom fit it in to the Air box and all. In the end I went back to the well oiled K&N panel filter and got better overall performance. if you are going Turbo/supercharger set up then go the Pod by all means

Well by a performance difference I mean that his car, base model EB s.II AUTO with only a 21/2 inch catback, and this 'pod filter' suddenly went from been slighly slower than my xr6(admitidly not as good condition, but manual and stock), to now slightly faster than me. the two tests were performed within five minutes so i dont think condition would be a factor. We both have a well a*** and consistent drag start (And for christ sakes this wasnt at a traffic light but on a well known back road which I beleive to be safe. so please dont reply saying something like "you kids are going to get yourself killed doing stupid sh!t like that". I know the risks.
the results speak for themselves. There is no doubt that his car is now faster than mine. It certenly has at least got the performance mod itch hapening again, but I must be patient, my breaks need attention first and Id like to upgrade suspension at the same time.

I guess if it has made a definate improvement for ya then so be it. But I would wait a while to see if it is an overall performance gain and not just a slight gain at the low end. Might find your mid-range power level might peak off. Ah well

Thanks heaps for the help guys -
I will try both ways - mounting it directly onto the throttle body, and i will soon invest in a stainless pipe, i will ring my local exhaust joint and see what they can do - food for thought..... Thanks Again!

Hmmm, muffler place. To have your query answered, it is there you must look.
