Gday,

I have a fully forged and balanced clevo 383 stroker with a powerdyne, all new, 8.5CR. Im getting close to the set up stage now.

Just wondering if anyone has supercharged something like this before and what would be a safe boost level?

I will be running an intercooler and BOV (silent one) thru a mighty demon blow thru carb.

Cheers,

Matt

It depends 100 % on tune...
Seems small blower for big engine ???

will a powerdyne have enough to even supply 8lb to a clevo?

Yea well ??? In this case where boost IS a restriction of flow.. It would have to be well over geared ??

Not happy Jan!

I was told it would be good for 10pound, really only looking for 6...Too late now I already have it and no money left to change now. I'll have to see how it goes.

Since I have to get a main pulley made up I will get a slightly larger than stock one, to give a little bit more overdrive. As long as I make 500hp Im happy. Vortec can be a future mod. Just looked at the ad, says up to 20psi on a clevo....Its not the same one on the capa site either.

If its the more common belt-driven BD-11A, then you might have to spin it pretty hard to make 500hp.

If its the larger gear-driven XB-1A then you should have no problems at all.

There is another model as well thats in between those two size-wise. I dont know much about it though...

Sounds like a fun project. Tune is everything.

Well its a bd11a... Im going to put it on and see how it goes. Having a supercharger thats not quite big enough is better than none at-all I spose.

As soon as funds permit I will get a vortech. Im so dissapointed that I got led up the path buying a powerdyne, I spose I could put it on my dirty magna :?

Just noticed this on fordforums, http://fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?t=107102

a J-Trim Vortech kit with Clevo brackets for 2900....might be worth a look.

Just found a set of bearings that can spin up to 60 000 rpm instead of the standard 36000rpm and a kevlar belt to suit. Im going to put them in the powerdyne and gear it up a bit. Should get the 8+ pound im after no worries. I'll post up how it goes.

Id still rather a vortech but this is a whole lot cheaper and will get the same result im after...just without quite as much headroom.
