hey everyone.
in my ef 6cyl i have a GOLD 98 POWERCHIP. i have spoken to someone and they said that if i was to put a mild cam in it and a stage 2 shift kit that the chip won't be able to handle it. is this true or will the chip i got do fine. cheers TURBOFAIRMONT

Try it and see, can your chip be retuned?

i will ask my mate who is the head chipper at powerchip in vic. he designed a similar chip for my ef xr which had an aftermarket cam in it and it worked well, rough idol but produced alot more power.

Dude, why not call powerchip. I hear there's some pretty helpful dudes there, as a mate just got a custom chip for his 325i, and they asked him heaps of questions, and spent a bit of time helping him.

Hmm... i read an article on Autospeed where they interviewed the Managing Director of PowerChip and put some hard questions on him.
For instance, they dont even have their own dyno to test the chips Sorry couldnt help, should ask Powerchip i guess for compatability with your future mods would be your best bet. Also, has anyone on this forum ever had before & after dyno testing with the Powerchip installed in their car? |

call up powerchip in melb. a lady will most likely answer and ask to speak to a guy named billy. hes the man down there. dont talk to anyone else. the rest dont know squat about cars to be honest. there more sales men then programers.
im best mates with him since we were kids. he knows his s**t. i wouldnt let anyone else touch my ecu. and to respond to the "they dont have there own dyno" im not sure about the other states but i know VIC doesnt have there own. they use a dyno dynamics. and spend alot of time at the horse power factory. which i believe is better because not only have they got programing experts working the chips, they have qualified mechanics and an independent dyno which makes a more honest figure.

found out, the chip cannot be used for aftermarket modifications. They say that the powerchip is only designed to get maximum power out of a stock engine running gear etc. It is not designed to run aftermarket mods. The chip that i will have to get is call the ECONO CHIP.
