About $1000 - 1250, A lot faster off the line, noticeably faster acceleration.
Worse fuel economy, especially in highway situations. |

I fitted 3.73 to my ef mont, and highway fuel economy has barely been affected, maybe an extra half a litre per 100km's.
But i wouldnt go any shorter in ratio if you have converted to manual, if you have an auto then defintely go 4.11's. |

Darkr how come you have quoted such a high price. All you need to do is buy the gears for under $200 and fit them yourself. Even if you got someone to fit them then it would come well under your quote, I could be wrong though..

You would really have to know what you are doing to change diff gears, as it took the diff specialist all day to set up correct preloads and shimming etc. when he fitted 3.73's to my car. With LSD it takes a bit longer.
If you dont get it spot on, you can easily smash the gears Also when you change ratios its recommended to fit new bearings. Mine cost: $500 new diff gears, $200 new bearings, $350 labour, $115 Speedo corrector which i installed myself. |

GO 4.11's Mate. I run them it revs at 2250 at 100km/h, 2500 at 110.
Its pretty respectable and your car will feel likes its on boost it will throw u into the seat off the mark and feel so much stronger in each gear. $180 of ebay 4.11's i doubt it would be much more then $500 to fit them.

yeah she's an auto, i didnt really think about 4.11s but they sound very tempting, wats it like to drive in the wet with them, if i got a bit adventurous on the highway while its raining would the a*** end be hanging in the other lane, i would think so but nothing a bit of sensible driving cant fix

I got my diff in the xr8 done at D and R diffs at chipping norton, $1190
new bearings, oil, tighter lsd, lower gears and obvious shims etc, definatly go for the 3.91.1 ratio it will feel like its got more power In the wet you drive as you normally would in the wet, once you hammer the throttle thou ha a*** end out action. Economy around town didnt change and i didnt notice much more on the freeway either. |
