Hi all,

Ive have a BF XR8 and looking to put a supercharger on it and I have been reading a lot of coments here on FORDMODS.

It look like the way to go so im just putting out the feelers to which supercharging system I should go for.

Im looking for all your coments on the pros & cons on each system.

The systems that i am looking at are:

# CAPA, Vortech Reverse Rotation Sealed, Intercooled Kit or the Vortech 8psi Kit.

Money is not quite the issue but it is tight and if it means saving up for a few more months to get the better kit to do the beter job well thats what has to be done.

The mods done to the car so far is a set of Herrod Motorsport stainless headers and CAT, and a cat back EXFORCE quad 2 1/2" System, and an Herrod Motorsport Throtlle Spacer, K&N air fillter.

Never done it. Don't know the technical merits of each one - one way or the other.

But I am a big fan of the Stealth install that is the Yella Terra / Herrods V-Mount Supercharger. It looks to be almost a sinch to bolt it straight in and go - if it wasn't for having to relocate the alternator. And the fact that it's the most expensive of the kits that I'm aware of.

So all you've gotten so far is an emotional response out of me!

Have seen a BPT kit in the flesh and it is mind blowing.

There is a Kenne Bell kit for them which may be another option.

Regardless those kits are only good as the tune they are given so maybe the RDP whipple may be the go. With the Positive displacement kits boost comes on very early and it is an interesting experience.

IMO you should probably do some head work first, an EDIT and from what i hear the herrod headers arnt the best.
dont no much about the charger side of things so ill leave that one alone.

check out Blue Power Racing gear as well. from what i remember it was like 8k for a kenny bell kit.

Go the YT kit using the twin screw whipple charger will net better performance/power if setup and tuned right than all of the other options on the list. I am sure the charger they use is a Whipple W140AX charger these are a 2.3l per revolution charger. The KB equivelent will also do the job.

The Eaton M122 is the bigest unit in the Eaton range however this is a roots blower and compresses the air in the intake causing more friction/heat compared to the likes of the Whipple or Kenne Bell those units compress the air between the rotors in the charger and the passing the compressed air to the intake providong a more efficent and cooler forced induction setup.

The Vortech is a widely know unit. It is a Centrifugal supercharger these units take a little bit of time spool up compared to the positive displacement superchargers above and are more like a turbo in the way the compress the air but instead of using exhaust gases to move the compressor wheel the drive belt does it.

Superchargers of any form will use some horsepower from the engine to inturn produce boost.

Get the Kenne Bell kit from blue power if you got a spare 8 grand, produces the goods from what i hear.

If you had a bulletproof bottom end I'd go for an F series procharger but we all know dreams are only dreams right?

As for someone saying the vortech is laggy well they really start to move from only 2000rpm. imo they give a better torque spread than a set of angry NA cams, well they seem to on paper. If you want to fry tyres from idle then I guess either of the screw kits are the way to go.
