as the title says the car isn't starting but before it turned to s**t it was running really rough so i thort it was a lead. i check all the leads and they were all fine except for the one that goes from the dizzy to the coil so i tapped it down with a screw driver. since i did that it doesn't run for more thane three seconds , but now it wont start at all. things I'm looking at are
have i broken the dizzy cap by tapping it to hard is a fuel line blocked injectors or is it just f**k because i have no idea what i'm doing thx |

It is common for coil's to just stop working.

Try checking ur coil lead . I had simular prob mine was running really rough i checked the leads & coil lead was not on properly i pushed it on & went to start it. There was no firing so i went to check the lead. I gave the coil lead alittle wiggle again & it broke at the rubber cap where it sits on the coil. Hope this helps

Yeah coils are common for going, its on the left hadn side of the engine under the inlet manifold near the engine mount
New one from repco is about $60 Give that a try

Just been through all this. There are 2 bolts that hold the coil on, one you attack from above, one from underneath. Being and EL right? You might be able to get them both from above as you should have the BB manifold. The bolts should be visable, maybe covered in dirt?
You need to first address these 2 points. 1/ Is there spark? - Test a lead against the rocker cover, maybe using a screwdriver in it.. 2/ Is there fuel pressure? You should hear the fuel system prime everytime you click the key over to "on". I thought this only happens once, and then you have pressure, but it should happen every time. You can remove the fuel line that goes to the fuel rail, and check for 200 odd ml that should pump out each time it primes. I'd also be checking the fuel pump relay (green one behind the driver's headlight on mine) and the ECU relay (brown one in the same spot as fuel pump relay). You can bypass this by bridging the relay (remove, and stick some wire accross 2 of the terminals, sorry dunno which one, mechanic did it). This all happened a week ago for me, check this: http://www.fordmods.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=52099 Good luck, be sure to let us kno what the outcome is dude. |

could also be ya ignition module best bet is test for injector pulse and spark if neither are present replace the dizzy as just doin a module of them is not worth it also when doin the module do a coil as u will find small cracks in the coil causing it to surge and short out
