hi fellas,

since putting 20's on the rear, my auto 4L ef is noticably slower on take off, so i'm going to fit taller gears, just not sure what to use. i have an LSD with 3.45 gears (out of XR6).

i'm leaning towards 3.9 but am tempted to bite the bullet and go 4.11.

i dont do much highway cruising, so the slightly higher revs at 100 dont worry me. but it has to be a daily driver. i dont drag but may do the quater just to satisfy my curiosity. my tyre size is 235 30 20.

opinions/ advise welcome. ta

I have 4.11's on my AU auto and run 19" rims. I wouldnt even bother with 3.9's, just get the 4.11's. Its not that much of a difference in the end but the 4.11's really do get the car off the line in a hurry. Just have to take it easy in the wet, wheel spin is now just a fact of life.

Speedo was affected pretty drastically actually. The 4.11's are about 20% shorter than the stock 3.45's however the 19" wheels are about 5% bigger than stock too. Basically, on mine, the speedo is almost exactly 15% slow. That means that when I drive I've got to be good at my maths lol.

115kph on the speedo is 100kph road speed.

I'll get around to putting in a corrector unit one day but I've gotten very used to it now and know what speeds are what. Only problem is the DTE gets a bit out of whack now so I dont bother even looking at it.

one bright way of looking at it.........................

least its a good way that if you still stick with what the speedo reads... then you will have lil trouble with speeding fines...

Also good when you have someone in the car that is "car-clueless" and floor it. The speedo moves VERY quickly... blows their minds :D

Only 92mph on that run.. ran a 14.61 at 95mph the very next run. Wish I could have gotten them together, would have been a nice run.

Might see if I can snag a 14.4 unopened before I give in the the inevitable and do the engine. That would keep me happy for a while.
