20,000 I change my diff oil.
50,000 would be an ok time. remember most cars never change it. I usually warm the diff up and then drain it on flat ground. (lower bolt is drain bolt) Then fill it back up. If you use 80/140 it might not be a good idea to warm it up as the oil will be thicker. A few times I have removed the hat and drained it, but only when I change something.

its not hard to change, the oil in mine was never changed i think, diff started to play up, so i changed it HOLY crap old diff oil stinks....

Let it drain overnight if possible. It is as thick as s**t hot or cold and will take time.

from memory the service book say every 100,000k's but id recommend changing it every time you do your trans. fluid so at 20,000-25,000k intervals. obviously driving habits, consistent towing would have an impact on your servicing sheduale.

thanks guys, ill be trying this next weekend, just a few quick questions, how do i get oil back in there?(obviously fresh stuff) and do i have to raise my car on stands or ramps?

i use one of those special pump/bottle things from coventrys cost abotu 20 bucks.
Keep pumping until it starts to spill out the top hole then its full. Its better to keep the car flat for an accurate reading, mine is lowered and i managed to pump it in without jacking the car up. |

once ya do that you can put 50:50 diff oil/diesel, do a couple of blockies and drain again. that will give it a good clean |

Private people do it too? How do you know if its there? Matt wouldn't recomend it. its not good for it some real dodgy people do it to sell there care. thicker oil would be a lot better to quiet it down. but thicker oil doesn't fix it, it only reduces the whine |

goddam diff oil stinks, mate just swapped over his diff and i was on the phone when he put it to my nose, haha the person on the other end thought i was dying
i think mine is due for new oil (or a full bloody overhaul) it whines a fair bit, so it can be done using axle stands eh? sweet as
