Is there a way to indentify what engine came from which E series car?
Im lookin at buying a 4L engine and owner says he thinks its from an XR6 its obviously from an EF/EL, has an aftermarket plenum (rules out air intake type), extracters, T5... only thing i can think of is ECU would have to be from a xr6 right? and are they well marked? engine currently in an EA! any help appreciated |

if it is a tickford engine it will have tickford wings cast into the front of the head.

A Tickford cyl head has A big T cast on the front of the head. The rocker cover has the Ticky wings on it, and are red in colour.

the "T" on the front of the head is hard to fake.
if there isnt a "T", and theres something like 94da its not a tickford. note: this is behind the plastic timing belt cover |

My Fairmont Ghia motor (also tickford) has a red rocker cover, though without the wings on it, but the head on the motor is a tickford. 94 - 95DT will mean it is a tickford motor out of an EF/EL as mooseman said. Just look for that. Rocker cover could have been changed cause previous owner liked the look. phong =P~
