hey guys i need to know the best way to do the oil drain fitting with out removing the sump

i have heard of using grease on the end of the drill bit but i dont think its 100% safe some filings will still enter the sump, the other way is punching a hole but then with the sump having thin walls screwing a plate back to the sump and and making it seal can be a problem, i dont advise welding while the sumps on the car i know someone that drained the sump and welded it and the sump exploded.

yeah pretty much what he said, you can punch the hole, then tap for a fitting with heaps of grease.
or you punch the hole and leave it just a touch undersize, then chamfer the end of a steel pipe about 5/8-3/4" diameter then press the pipe into the hole, and secure the drain line, then silicone the crap out of it, short term but it works. |

Just get a spare sump from a wreackers and get a fitting welded into it make sure you clear the mounts and everything else and then you dont have to do it again just take your old one off and place your new one on

Use some good quality steel epoxy putty. If the surface is clean and rough, it will stick nearly as good as a weld.
