hey guys. well im new here so go easy if this has been done...lol...

i hav a BA xr6 turbo ute in phantom color with 20 inch chromies. im looking at getting the centre section of the dash and around the speedo and all that chromed 2 match the wheels and some other parts aswell....i think it will look good with the black leather and chrome door handles and stuff...

my problem is that i have read that the silver PRND section is hard 2 get out because of the handbrake.

i am wanting to paint this section and the other silver areas under the dash and steering wheel in high gloss black.

im just wondering how hard and how 2 get the PRND section out 2 paint... and also wat u guys think of the idea?

the chroming job will be done proffesionally at a mates work...so it wont be dodgey or anythin but yea, wat do u guys think? and any1 with any ideas on how 2 get that section and the silver facia bits under dash off would be very helpful

thanks 8-)

doesnt the bit around the gear selector just pop out the same as an EF/EL one?

ie: just pry it up gently and itll un clip.

also, chroming parts of the dash may be bad as reflection from the sun!! won't be able to see jack s**t.

Why would you want to do chroming then start painting for?
You'll be totaly wasted already from chroming to enjoy the paint fumes.

its easy really.

Disconnect battery
wait one minute
Unplug, unbolt and remove drivers seat (4 bolts)
Undo the 3 bolts that hold the handbrake to the side of the console/trans tunnel (3 bolts)
Theres about 12 bolts/screws that hold the centre console in, and once thats removed you can get the piece out.
10 minutes once you've done one or two

Too much effort in my opinion!! I reckon just paint the plastic surrounding the gear shifter... Looks nice...

I thought this amusing.

10 minutes eh? Once you've done 20 maybe. And what was the dash 'remove and replace' record you broke the other day?

And you forgot one bit - disable the Car Alarm before disconnecting the battery. Otherwise drain the blood from your ears first, since it'll get released by the car alarm anway....
