hello how are yous going,
im wondering how long can i have a au motor sitting in the shed before i put it in the ed before the block and head corrodes or can i stop that from happening. if so how and how do i start a ed-au 4l engine on the ground just testing it, what wires do i connect to where to start the engine just to try it before i put it in. the reason im asking this is because we had a gemini sitting in the shed for 2 years and the block and head was corroded after sitting there for so long so i need some advice before i store an engine. thanks for your time |

youd need a bit. a fuel pump and lines, a few relays, ECU, bem, key barrel for smartlock, engine loom, what have i forgotten?

I am not sure, though maybe you could just wind it over with an auxillary power source (rattle gun etc).

Out with the plugs, put some oil into the plug holes, wind it over a few times by hand to coat the sides with oil, put an oil coated rag in the inlet manifold, put stops on all fuel lines etc. cant do much with the head or block as far as the corrosion goes. But that shouldnt cause too much concern. I guess you could connect the upper and lower water pipes and fill with distilled water and an anti corrosion inhibitor. Once every few weeks turn the motor over a few times to make sure theres no surface rust forming on any bearings etc. Apart from that, keep it dry and you should be fine mate!
