I'm sure that this has been answered loads of times and I am sure that there is a factory option cable that plugs into the back.
Do a search through the forum and you will find it....

there is one, the one you want is the amplified one, the part # is BAF 289455 BA

I have one fitted and it works a treat.
It does not directly control the ipod, as some stereos will, it is a 2mm jack that works through the AUX control on the stereo. Only after this extension is installed can you access the AUX option on the stereo.
