OK guys, a mate and myself went halves in a 1979 ZJ Fairlane this morning, $200 lol. it originally had a 351 cleveland in it, but you can tell from the 2 patches of faded and peeled paint on the bonnet that he cooked it lol, and now there is an XF Alloy Head II 6 cyl in it. its in fair condition, hardly any rust, and a small dent in the bonnet where it hit a pole. but its regod and roadworthy.
now when we checked the transmission when we got it home, and discovered that it was bone dry how much fluid do these borg warner 3 speeders take? also it slips like an elephant walking on ice, and makes weird grinding sounds, would this have something to do with the fluid not being there? or is it something more serious? also, the speedo is showing about 20-35 km/h faster than what the car is actually travelling at. would it need new speedo gear or is it because of the V8 cluster in it? or is the cluster fooked? any help would be appreciated. cheers guys and girls.

I think you'll find that the Borg Warner 3 spe4ed can take a lot more s**t than the BTR 4 speed auto. it dosent slip as such, it just slips into neutral turning left (only happens when turning left) and then bangs back into gear.

Man thats a good buy for $200 lol i wanna get a $100-200 ea padock basher lol that would have done the job though

trans oil is low but that you knew anyway.
The speedo being out 30kmh is posibly the wrong transducer as XE have a different tranducer to XF -AU and guess what if you have an XF transducer in an XE (this includes ZJ) it reads 30kmh higher at 60kmh so that might be your problem
