If your not sure about how to do it, then don't, get someone who does.

You can never really tell until you open the g/box up. Maybe worth it, but you'd need to pick it up pretty cheap - then at least if there's more wrong with it, you can use that g/box for spares on another.
But as mentioned, get someone who's had some experience and knowledge to have a look at it.

Its easy, when you have the right tools, and correct workshop/servicing manuals for the gearbox.
But if you dont have all that as said a professional workshop or someone who has done it before is your best bet. Get the gears crack tested too, you can do it yourself aswell with dye penetrants etc.

Well i can get it for a box of Bacardi. My uncle is a mechanic and very experienced with all that sort of stuff so he knows how to do it all. I was just wondering if it would be worth it after buying the syncros and he said about putting a kit ofsome sort in it while the box was apart so it would pretty much be a reco box. Would it be easier to just find a good box??

I say pick it up and have a look. I managed to pick up an overhaul kit, for basically a box of barcardi, for my gearbox. Gotta love the quokka.
Any body know what these are worth new? |
