Maybe the rubbers on the windows have had it?

theres no water inside the actual door. all the trim is dry apart from the very bottom part which closes on the sill.

dude, had the same problem when I changed over my door trims on my BA... it was on the driver side front tho... got me puzzled, the seals and everything are tight and working fine...
Might be from a flood or a water crossing from the previous owner???? b/c like you, I'm stumped!

i have had the same thing in my car, but i noticed after it had been raining for a week straight and car was in the rain, put it down to heavy rain....
even when i took the door trim off that spongy stuff behind the trim was wet at the bottom too. i was swapping regulators from two ef's and both cars had the same issued so i didnt worry too much.
