whats wrong with the centre you got?
you could just put your crown straight onto it. Does it spin 1? You could get some LSD washers open up the centre and slap some in there to tighten it up.

well i have an open diff and just got the LSD centre off my mate, and was under the assumption that the LSD centre fits in my diff but i would have to get it rebuilt so all the preload etc was set right
please correct me if im wrong also i've driven his car before taking the LSD out and it wasn't shuddering or anything extreme but would sometimes whine when downchanging and click...how do i fix this?

probably find thats its his crown and pinion.... if you just put your crown on the lsd centre it should slot straight back in your housing the pre-load wont change...
Only if you change ratio's then u need to have it shimmed up etc... we do this ourselves just get spacers for a diff shop near us.

well you will need "LSD" washers.... maybe u could get some at a diff shop! would think so... ummm a rattle gun..,high tensile sockets, a small punch to nail out the locating pins... there will be 3... its pretty easy really.

skidder wrote: ohhh ok mad, is it hard to increase the preload yourself? Easy, you will need a tension gauge (fish weigher works OK) to measure the torque required to rotate the pinion and again for the crownwheel. If the crownwheel preload its out you will need to be freindly with a diff shop so you can swap your shims with different sizes to suit you diff but check the teeth meshing first with some prussian blue. You will also need a dial gauge to check backlash but if you are only swapping the centre that won't be an issue I would think.
