If it has an 82DA prefix, then it is from an XE falc. Pull an axle out and see if it has 28 splines, if so, it was for a 351. Is it LSD? Does it have a 4 pinion centre?

haven't pulled it out. it's in his XC 6 cyl. interesting to note it's out of an XE, the running gear he has is XF which i thought would fit.

To fit in an XC, it would have to be from a wagon, ute, or van.
Does it have rear disc brakes???

the XF v8 he's using for the conversion is a ute, it's going into an XC sedan.

XC brakes are drum, but i'm not sure on the XF. i've only seen it in the dark wheni had to tow it , but will find out.

If its a 351, I would go for rear disc brakes, its worth it. If it goes, its gotta stop too.

my words exactly! all he wants is the v8 in there, hasn't thought too much about upping the stopping/handling side of things. this will at least make him think a bit longer about it!
